The Engine Control Module (ECM) in your VZ Commodore manages fuel injection, ignition timing, throttle response, idle control and the immobiliser handshake. When you fit a replacement or second-hand ECM — particularly an Alloytec V6 or LS1 / LS2 / L76 V8 unit pulled from a wrecker — it must be VIN-security-linked to your vehicle before the engine will start, and the full reset & security link may be required if the unit has been previously paired to a different VIN.
This is a DIY kit. We ship you an OBDSync scantool plus the tokens needed to license the module — you run the programming yourself at home using a Windows laptop, and the module never has to leave your vehicle.
