The SDM is the brain of your vehicle’s airbag and seatbelt pretensioner system. Programming it incorrectly — or programming a module that’s been damaged, dropped, or carries stored crash data — can result in airbags failing to deploy in a crash, or worse, deploying unexpectedly.
Only use this kit on a known-good replacement SDM. If you’re uncertain about the source or condition of the module, have a qualified workshop perform the installation. The programming itself is straightforward — the responsibility is on you to confirm the hardware is suitable.
The Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) on your VF Commodore or HSV Gen-F controls the airbag and seatbelt pretensioner deployment logic. When the SDM is replaced (typically after an airbag deployment or due to a known fault), the new module must be security linked to your VIN, loaded with the correct factory calibrations, and configured for your specific airbag option set (curtains, knees, sidebag combinations).
All programming is done in the vehicle via OBD-II using OBDSync on a Windows laptop — no need to remove or ship the SDM after fitment.

OBDSync runs on Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit only). A laptop is recommended so you can sit in the car with the scantool plugged in. A free USB-A port is required.
