The SDM is the airbag controller — it decides whether and when to deploy front, side, and curtain airbags plus seat-belt pretensioners. Only buy this kit if you are replacing a known-faulty SDM with a known-good unit, the SRS hardware has no impact damage, and you have disconnected the battery and waited the required time before handling any airbag components. If in doubt, have it done by a qualified workshop.
The Sensing & Diagnostic Module (SDM) is the airbag controller in your Holden Trax — it monitors front and side crash sensors plus rollover / yaw, decides whether and when to deploy airbags and seat-belt pretensioners, and records crash event data. When the SDM is replaced, it must be VIN-security-linked to your vehicle, the option configuration matched to your build, and the yaw rate sensor re-learned before the SRS / airbag warning light will clear.
This is a DIY kit. We ship you an OBDSync scantool plus the tokens needed to license the module — you run the programming yourself at home using a Windows laptop, and the module never has to leave your vehicle.
Same kit, more capability: the OBDSync software also programs the BCM, IPC, ECM, TCM, ABS/EBCM, radio, HVAC, KEM, PACM, PSCM and other Trax modules. Each additional module is licensed separately with its own tokens, and some modules need more than one token (tokens are $50 each), so once you’ve got the kit you can take care of future programming any time — just add the tokens you need.
