The EBCM controls ABS, traction control and electronic stability. After replacement and security linking, a proper brake bleed procedure through the new module is required before driving. Reference the service manual or have it performed by a qualified workshop.
The Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) on your RG Colorado is the ABS hydraulic control unit and brain combined — it drives ABS, traction control, electronic stability control, hill start assist and hill descent control. When the EBCM is replaced (after a hydraulic failure, internal fault or accident damage), the new unit needs to be security linked to your VIN, configured for your truck’s build (body / engine / brake combo) and loaded with the latest calibrations before the ABS / TC systems will function.
All programming is done in the vehicle via OBD-II using OBDSync on a Windows laptop — no need to remove or ship the EBCM.
