DIY JH Cruze BCM Theft Security Lock — lock your Holden JH Cruze Body Control Module so thieves cannot program new keys through the OBD-II port, even with full physical access to the car.
This is the same easy OBD-II key-coding gap that’s been letting thieves drive Holden vehicles away in under a minute. Lock the BCM and that path is closed — the only way to program a key on a locked BCM is by unlocking it first with the same tool / kit.
Important: keep your kit safe — you’ll need it (or our service) to unlock the BCM if you ever need to add a genuine new key.
Lock your Holden JH Cruze Body Control Module so thieves cannot program new keys through the OBD-II port. Closes the most common modern OBD-II theft method — even if a thief gets inside your car, they can’t drive it away. DIY kit ships with an OBDSync scantool and the required token redemption serial, locked from a Windows laptop in your driveway.
From the factory, the JH Cruze BCM allows new keys to be programmed via the OBD-II port using readily-available GM key-coding tools. Thieves are exploiting this: break the window, plug in a tool, code a new key, drive away — all in under a minute, with no damage to the steering column and no warning to the alarm.
It’s a software-level weakness in the factory BCM, not a problem with your immobiliser, alarm or steering lock — aftermarket alarms don’t fix it.
This service closes that gap. Once your BCM is locked, the only way to add a new key is to unlock it first using the same OBDSync programming kit (or by sending it to us). A thief plugging a generic GM key-coder into your OBD-II port will get nothing — the BCM simply refuses to add a new key.
We ship the OBDSync scantool together with a printed token redemption serial covering the BCM lock procedure.
Download & install OBDSync (Windows 10 / 11, 64-bit). Create or sign in to your OBDSync account, then enter your redemption serial to add the required tokens to your own account.
Plug the scantool into your JH Cruze’s OBD-II port, run the BCM Theft Security Lock procedure in OBDSync, and the lock is in place in minutes.
Two short videos — one shows you exactly how to perform the BCM lockout from start to finish, and the other is a live demonstration proving the lock works: a real GM-style OBD key-programming tool being plugged into a locked Holden and failing to add a new key.
If you ever lose your keys or need to add an extra one in future, you’ll need to unlock the BCM first using the same OBDSync kit before any new key can be coded. Treat the scantool like a spare key — if you lose it, we can help you get back in but it’s an extra step.
A Holden dealer or any third-party locksmith using a standard GM key-coding tool cannot add a key to a locked BCM. This is the whole point of the lock — the security it gives you also means you need to plan ahead for legitimate new keys.
Works on all Holden JH Cruze vehicles (2011–2016) with the factory BCM still fitted and communicating:
OBDSync runs on Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit only). A laptop is recommended so you can sit in the car with the scantool plugged into the OBD-II port. A free USB-A port is required.
DIY kit only — lock your JH Cruze BCM in your driveway and shut down the OBD key-coding theft method.
