Unlike the VF Commodore BCM (which can only be flashed for calibrations and theft-lock), the Captiva BCM supports full VIN security linking via OBDSync. That means a swapped-in wrecker BCM, or a brand new replacement, can be paired to your car’s VIN entirely with this kit — no ship-in cloning service needed.
The Body Control Module (BCM) on your CG2 Captiva is the central hub for lighting, locking, alarms, key recognition, brake light operation, courtesy lamps, comfort & convenience features and the immobiliser handshake. When the BCM is replaced — after a known fault, water damage, or a swap from a wrecker — the new unit needs to be security linked to your VIN, configured for your build, and have the related modules relearned before everything will function correctly.
All programming is done in the vehicle via OBD-II using OBDSync on a Windows laptop — no need to remove or ship the BCM.
