Unlike the VF Commodore BCM (which only allows calibration flash and theft-lock), the CG1 Captiva BCM supports full VIN security linking via OBDSync. A wrecker / replacement BCM can be paired to your car’s VIN entirely with this kit — no ship-in cloning service needed.
The Body Control Module (BCM) on your CG1 Captiva is the central hub for lighting, central locking, alarm, key recognition, brake light operation, courtesy lamps, comfort & convenience features and the immobiliser handshake. When the BCM is replaced — after a known fault, water damage, or a swap from a wrecker — the new unit needs to be security linked to your VIN, configured for your build, and have related modules relearned before everything functions correctly.
All programming is done in the vehicle via OBD-II using OBDSync on a Windows laptop — no need to remove or ship the BCM.
