The SCM is the brain behind Magnetic Ride Control — the magneto-rheological adaptive damping fitted to ZL1, 1LE and MRC-optioned SS variants.
This listing only applies to Gen5 Camaros fitted with the factory Magnetic Ride Control adaptive damper system: ZL1 (standard), 1LE (track pack), and SS with the MRC option. Standard passive-strut Camaros don’t have an SCM.
The Suspension Control Module (SCM) on MRC-equipped Gen5 Camaros controls the magneto-rheological damper fluid — varying damping response thousands of times per second based on inputs from wheel position sensors, body accelerometers and steering angle. When the SCM is replaced, the new unit needs to be security linked to your VIN, have the suspension position sensor trim height relearned, and loaded with the correct factory calibrations before MRC will function.
All programming is done in the vehicle via OBD-II using OBDSync on a Windows laptop — no need to remove or ship the SCM.
