The Engine Control Module (ECM) on your Gen5 Camaro controls fuel injection, ignition timing, AFM cylinder deactivation (L99), forced induction (LSA on ZL1) and the immobilizer handshake. When the ECM is replaced — or you want to push the latest factory calibrations — the new unit needs to be security linked to your VIN and paired into the immobilizer handshake before the car will start and run correctly.
All programming is done in the vehicle via OBD-II using OBDSync on a Windows laptop — no need to remove or ship the ECM.
