The Engine Control Module (ECM) manages fuel injection, ignition timing, throttle response, idle control and the immobiliser handshake on your Caprice PPV. When you fit a replacement or second-hand ECM, it must be VIN-security-linked to your vehicle before it will start and run correctly, and from time to time a calibration update is needed to keep it running optimally. Crankshaft position variation also has to be re-learned after engine work.
This is a DIY kit. We ship you an OBDSync scantool plus the tokens needed to license the module — you run the programming yourself at home using a Windows laptop, and the module never has to leave your vehicle.
